Oregon Health Authority Orders 12 Million Covid Tests Amid Omicron Surge
As Oregan records its 2nd-highest single day Covid-19 cases with 2 948 cases recorded on 30 December, a concerned Oregan Health Authority orders 6 million Covid-19 at-home test kits for distribution in January 2022. This is according to local news published online, Kion.
With new cases expected to spike across the counties from New Year’s Eve and early January as holiday-makers return home and NYE celebrations end, next month’s distribution of the test kits comes at a strategic time with symptoms showing up and easily picked up then.
Features of the Free FDA-Authorized 15-min Self-test Soon To Arrive In The State
The soon-to-arrive order of six million Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kits from iHealth Labs comprises two tests per kit, totaling 12 million tests. These tests are expected to record a mass jump in numbers, with no cost to locals seeing mass urging for individuals to perform testing.

- Ease to use, convenient, and done at home without the need to ship samples to a laboratory
- Step-by-step instructional videos are available on the IHealth Labs app for easy testing and administration

The approved at-home test kits will arrive in the first week of January 2022 at the Wilsonville-based authority’s warehouse, thereafter being distributed to OHA partner agencies and OHA-approved organizations. Locals can expect to receive free at-home tests thereafter.
Once received, County residents across the state are urged to follow test guidelines and record their results accurately, with results showing up in 15 minutes. Should positive results be seen, those infected must ensure all isolation and quarantine measures are put into place and CDC health and safety guidelines followed.

- 15 new COVID-19-related deaths in Oregan on 30 December 2021. This brings the statewide death toll to 5 655.
- Breakthrough Covid-19 cases of COVID-19 reported in Oregan from Dec. 19 to Dec. 25 is 6 993. Of these reported cases 4,426 were of unvaccinated individuals and 2 567 were vaccine breakthrough cases
- Of the 6993 cases in Oregan, the highest number of cases within a county was 641 cases. This was recorded in Multnomah County lead the numbers.
