How Does Fresh Fitness Food Work?

Everyone is different, so it’s important that your meal plan is personalised[1] to your body. We love how Fresh Fitness Food personalises your meal plan to your fitness goals and lifestyle to ensure you’re getting the right nutrition. When you first order Fresh Fitness Food to go, you’ll fill out an online questionnaire about your goals, health, and physical activity.

Your Goals

First, you choose your fitness goal. There are only four goals to choose from, but most people ordering from Fresh Fitness Food will likely fit into one of these:

  • Fat loss, by putting you on a 20% calorie deficit.
  • Lean gains, by putting you on a 10% calorie deficit.
  • Build muscle, which puts you at a 10% calorie surplus.
  • General health, which is perfect for general good health and pre- and postnatal nutrition.

Nutrition Preferences

You then choose your nutritional preferences, such as low-carb, flexitarian, pescatarian, vegetarian, plant-based, or balanced, or you can set your own custom macronutrient balance. Unfortunately, you can only choose one nutrition preference, e.g., you can’t choose low carb and vegan.

If you’re worried that this isn’t personalised enough and you’ll end up getting the food you don’t like, don’t worry. On the next page, you can exclude up to three ingredients from a huge selection, including things like sweet potato, cucumber, white fish, and olives. However, Fresh Fitness Food does not recommend their service to anyone with allergies.

Activity Level & Personal Info

Next, choose your activity level, measured in steps. If you walk less than 5,000 steps per day you’re classed as not very active, between 5,000 and 15,000 is fairly active, and more than 15,000 steps per day is very active. You then say how many hours per week you exercise, between zero and more than seven.

Finally, you fill out some basic personal information including height, weight, birthday, and gender.

Calorie Allowance

Fresh Fitness Food then creates your bespoke plan for you based on your calorific requirements, macronutrient needs, and food preferences.

We like that they give you a customisable calorie buffer to account for the little extras you’ll likely consume throughout the day, such as coffees or small snacks.

They automatically set this buffer to 200 calories — meaning that if you need 2000 calories per day they’ll deliver 1800 calories in your meal plan — but you can change it from 200 to anything between zero and 750 calories per day.

Unfortunately, you can’t customise your overall calorie deficit or surplus — yet.

Choose Your Meals

Finally, you can check a box to say whether you’d like breakfast included or not. If you’ve ordered two meals per day, you can select whether you’d prefer breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner.

If you’re including breakfast in your plan, you can opt for only either a sweet or savoury breakfast by contacting the customer service team. If you don’t record your preference, you’ll get a variety of sweet and savoury breakfasts.

That’s it! Your meals are then prepared fresh by Michelin-star chefs and your food is delivered to your doorstep each morning, Monday to Friday.

How Much Does Fresh Fitness Food Cost?

The cost of Fresh Fitness Food depends on how many meals you want per day and whether you opt for their weekly flexible plan or commit to a certain number of days in advance.

Whichever plan you’re on, you can order two to six meals per day, with three meals per day being the most common and best value. You can’t order a single meal per day.

On the Flexi plan you only commit to five days at a time. You pay every Wednesday for the deliveries you’ve ordered for the next week.

Sadly, it doesn’t get cheaper the more you order as it always works out at £9 per meal. That’s unless you order two meals per day, which costs £26 per day and includes two extras such as snacks or juice.

The Flexi plan automatically renews each week unless you cancel it. You can also cancel the days you’ve already paid for as long as you give two full working days’ notice.

If you go for their Commit plan, on the other hand, you’ll need to pay upfront for between 10 and 200 days. The longer you commit, the cheaper it gets. For example, three meals per day cost £24.50 per day when you commit to 100 days and £23 per day when you commit to 200 days. However, this plan is only available within the M25, i.e., Greater London.

You can cancel this plan but there will be fees involved if you cancel within a commitment period.

All extras, including juices, smoothies, snacks, and so-called booster shots cost £4 each. While the juices and smoothies on offer are always the same, the snacks change each week. You can either choose savoury or sweet snacks or alternate between sweet and savoury snacks every day.

  • Highly customisable.
  • Offers flexible and committed plans.
  • Meals are delivered fresh daily.
  • Varied, nutritious, tasty recipes.
  • Recycled and compostable packaging.

  • Not organic.
  • Committed plan is only available within the M25.
  • Quite expensive.

Fresh Fitness Food Reviews UK

Now you know how Fresh Fitness Food works and how much it costs, but what do real customers have to say about it? Here are some quotes from real customer reviews on Trustpilot.

Personalised Meal Plans

Fresh Fitness Food makes sure your meal plan is personalised to your goals and lifestyle, whether that’s fat loss, muscle gains, or general health.

Customers like that “they offer flexibility in your goals, i.e., fat loss, lean gains, etc.,” and find that the service is “easy to personalise according to nutrition goals and allergies.” Some customers pointed out that they “really appreciate that I can exclude some ingredients,” and that this ability to opt out of ingredients you don’t like is “an amazing feature.”

What’s more, customers say that using Fresh Fitness Food “has really helped me to reach my weight loss and fitness goals” without “obsessing about counting calories.”

Another customer said, “I never felt really hungry and I lost 1.5 kg in the first week.”

So it sounds like Fresh Fitness Food lives up to its name when it comes to flexibility and personalisation, but are the meals nutritious?

Nutritional Value

To stay in good health you need to ensure you’re getting all the macronutrients and micronutrients you need daily, which is quite tough if you’re on a weight loss diet or busy hitting the gym on a regular basis. If you’re training a lot, you’ll probably need much more protein than you imagine, making it hard to plan to get everything you need.

So, does Fresh Fitness Food manage to deliver all the nutrients you need? They definitely account for your calorie and macronutrient needs, with a focus on protein, but they don’t claim to account for all your micronutrient needs — which might be why they also sell dietary supplements.

One customer said: “I don’t have the time to shop for all of these different ingredients, and frankly, I’m not creative enough to come up with three vastly different and delicious cooked meals a day. This means I end up eating basic meals that aren’t very nutrient-dense a lot of the time, or blowing money on cafe meals or takeout. So it’s been incredible to have this taken care of for me and I don’t have to worry about micronutrients so much, because FFF provides me with such a varied diet.”

Other customers said that “FFF gives me the assurance that I am hitting my calorie and protein target with high-quality nutritious food” and “I would recommend this service as the meals are healthy and filling.”

So, nutritious, yes. But does it taste good?

Flavor, Freshness, And Quality

Fresh Fitness Food’s meals are designed by a Michelin-star trained menu consultant and prepared by their head chef, Andy Slater, who has more than 10 years of experience as a chef and even has a degree in nutrition.

One thing all customer reviews seem to agree on is that the “food is delicious and varied” with a “great variety of recipes.”

One verified customer said: “I have tried several meal delivery companies, and this is by far the best I’ve experienced. Food is incredibly tasty, super healthy, great variety — I look forward to receiving the box each morning, as I know what I’ll be eating is healthy and delicious.”

Finally, a customer trying to lose weight said they “found this company ideal for sending me fresh healthy tasty food, without having to think about it or visit supermarkets.”

Remember that this is a fresh meal prep service. If you’re looking for frozen meals, check out our roundup of the best frozen meal delivery services.

The good things don’t stop there. If you’re conscious of your carbon footprint, Fresh Fitness Food also delivers meals in biodegradable and recyclable packaging. The food containers are made out of 90% bagasse biodegradable material, which can be composted, and lined with a plastic film, which can be recycled.

One customer said: “Not only is the food incredible but the detail behind the packaging and the ingredients is amazing. Highly recommend.”

Another customer said: “Knowing that their packaging is recyclable and compostable is also an important aspect as I try to take into consideration my carbon footprint.”

For a daily fresh meal prep delivery service, consistent delivery to your door is of prime importance — especially if you need your food delivered in the morning in time for breakfast.

From reviewing customer reviews, we’ve concluded that Fresh Fitness Food is one of the most reliable meal prep delivery services in the UK.

Customers say that they had an “excellent experience with delivery” and that their meals were “delivered every day without fail.”

Even those living in the countryside were pleasantly surprised. One customer said: “I live in the countryside and delivered exactly when they said it would arrive.”

Customer Service

Finally, the reviews on the customer service were mainly positive with a couple of negative experiences.

Most customers said that had “great customer service from these guys,” with others describing the customer service team as “lovely.” One customer even said, “the customer service is the best I have ever experienced.”

However, one customer review said they experienced some delivery mistakes, for example, being sent a chicken dish in the vegan package, and having the same dish sent for lunch and dinner on the same day. They also said their “emails are not responded to … I would have hoped for closer attention to customer service.”

Final Thought: Is Fresh Fitness Food Worth Trying?

To sum up our Fresh Fitness Food review, we think Fresh Fitness Food is one of the best meal prep services in the UK because they emphasise delivering fresh meals for a balanced diet to help you achieve your fitness goals.

We like that you can select your goal, whether that’s to lose weight or work on your lean gains, and that you can opt out of ingredients you don’t like, such as chicken, white fish, or sweet potato.

The best part? All customers agree that Fresh Fitness Food’s meals are healthy and taste good with varied flavours. What’s more, most of the Fresh Fitness Food reviews we read praised the company for its fantastic customer service and prompt daily delivery.

The only real downside is that it’s quite expensive for a non-organic meal prep service, working out at £9 per meal on the Flexi plan. The Commit plan is available within the M25, making the service a bit cheaper for those living in Greater London.
