The European Man-for-Man Internet Survey (EMIS) asks about relationships, sex life, risks, precautions and use of health services, and is available online until Tuesday 31 August 2010.
Dr Neil Irvine, Consultant in Health Protection, PHA said: “Belfast Pride is an opportune time to promote this very important survey. I would urge MSM across Northern Ireland to participate as it’s a great opportunity to provide a local perspective.”
The Rainbow Project, an organisation which works to improve the physical, mental and emotional health of gay, bisexual and non-heterosexual men in Northern Ireland hosts the survey on its website. Promoting the survey, Harry McNulty, Sexual Health Development Officer of The Rainbow Project says:
“The EMIS survey will inform the development of HIV prevention and sexual health promotion campaigns over the next 3 years. Identifying prevention needs across diverse groups of MSM is a key priority group in the Sexual Health Promotion Strategy and Action Plan for Northern Ireland. This survey will also identify whether the needs of MSM are currently being met and if not, support national groups and agencies to plan and deliver the services needed. I would strongly encourage all MSM in Northern Ireland to take part in this important survey.”
