About The Brand

MuscleFood is an award-winning online food retailer based in the United Kingdom. It provides a wide range of quality food products, including meal plan subscriptions, lean meat hampers, high-protein snacks, and quite a lot more. You have so many tasty ways to stock your pantry through MuscleFood; in contrast, your supermarket trips might look slightly different.

MuscleFood was founded in 2013 by Darren Beale and has since gained strong popularity, especially in the fitness community. While the meal plans focus on losing weight, customers also have the option to design their own boxes to build lean muscle.

In this article, we’ll look at what the MuscleFood reviews say so you can decide if MuscleFood’s value for money is right for you.

How Does MuscleFood Work?

MuscleFood can work in a variety of ways, depending on your needs. For example, MuscleFood offers meal plan subscriptions for customers who want either to lose weight or tone their muscles.

However, you also have the option to design your balanced diet by building your own box of top-quality meat products, fish, vegetables, eggs, snacks, and other food and beverage items. Shopping for individual products and making your own hampers allows you more control over the value for money in your box.

MuscleFood plan subscriptions are delivered across the United Kingdom six days per week. You can select your delivery date and set your subscription to include as few as three days or as many as seven days’ worth of meals each week.

To set up a meal plan subscription, choose the plan that best addresses your fitness goals. You can choose between their Super Slimmer plan, which is designed to support weight loss, or the Lean Machine plan, which is designed to help you build lean muscle.

After choosing your meal plan and determining how many days you want your delivery to supply your needs, you simply select all the products and Muscle Food prep meals you want to be included in your box. Examples of MuscleFood products include:

  • Sausages.
  • Premium chicken breast fillets.
  • Chicken sausages.
  • Protein pizzas.
  • Steak mince.
  • Rump steaks.
  • Free-range beef meatballs.

Not a fan of cooking? Too short on time for the kitchen? Muscle Food also offers prepped pots that require no cooking and can be ready in under eight minutes. They are advertised as low-sugar, low-fat, and high-protein. These ready-meal subscriptions offer exceptional value for money and can be delivered every one to six weeks.

MuscleFood Reviews

Product Range

MuscleFood offers a wide range of products, allowing customers to design deliveries based on their specific needs. With MuscleFood, you can order meal kits, ready-to-eat meals, meats, fish, snacks, drinks, and more. If your goal is weight loss, consider the MuscleFood weight loss meal plans that provide meals for as many as seven or as few as three days per week.

Many customer reviews praise the Muscle Food chicken breasts compared to supermarket chicken. In addition, MuscleFood has a wide product range compared to other food delivery services. Many of its foods are sourced from free-range farms in Romania, Belgium, Ireland, England, Holland, and Lithuania.

Meals

You can sign up for a Goal Getters meal plan subscription if you choose. Unfortunately, the only available meal plans focus on weight loss and muscle toning. There are over 100 meal options to choose from as you designate meals for three, five, six, or seven days per week.

MuscleFood will preselect meals for you once you designate your preferences. However, you can easily change your meals by swapping them out for other options on the menu.

Based on the average customer’s review, the cost of hampers can be comparable to that of a standard supermarket trip. And the premade meals can easily cost a bit less than eating lunches or dinners out on the town. Plus, if you order in bulk for additional savings, you can store what you don’t immediately need in freezer bags.

Nutritional Value

It’s worth noting that the website, while user-friendly for placing orders, can be challenging to navigate when trying to understand the nutritional values of meals and snacks. This is because the nutrition facts are limited and do not delineate how many servings are provided in each feed. Instead, they make note of the nutrition provided in a single portion and a serving of 100 grams.

Additionally, MuscleFood does not post its food’s vitamin and mineral content, so you can’t be sure exactly what you’re eating.

In all, MuscleFood advertises its foods as low in sugar, low in fat, and high in protein. And the pre-cooked meals are all under 450 calories.

It is worth noting that some of the MuscleFood meal plan options do not provide sufficient calories for the average adult’s baseline needs. A daily calorie intake of 1200 calories is severely restrictive and can have long-term health impacts[1] — not to mention it’s unrealistic to maintain for an extended period.

Flavor, Freshness, And Quality

MuscleFood ships its products and meal plan subscriptions in a thoughtfully packed temperature-controlled box. The hydrated gel ice sheets, which are recyclable, keep the box’s contents chilled for up to 24 hours. However, for the best food quality, it is important to unpack your parcel upon delivery and store its contents in the appropriate places at the required temperatures.

Furthermore, you initially set your delivery date to ensure you are home to unpack your box promptly. If you ordered a meat hamper, you might consider separating the meat and placing it in freezer bags to maintain freshness until you’re ready to cook it.

How does the flavor of MuscleFood items compare to their supermarket counterparts? Many customers praise the excellent taste and quality of their chosen MuscleFood products. Plus, MuscleFood openly shares from where its meat is sourced. Can the same be said about those supermarket chicken breast fillets?

Packaging

To keep your food as tasty as possible, MuscleFood ships your order in an insulated container with recyclable gel ice packs. With its substantial packaging, your order can be kept chilled for up to 24 hours.

Delivery

MuscleFood has streamlined the delivery side of things. MuscleFood delivers across the United Kingdom six days per week, and you get to set your preferred delivery date. And since the meat hampers and meal kits are delivered in insulated, protected boxes, you can rest assured that your foods will be delivered fresh.

There are some customer complaints about the delivery courier that MuscleFood uses. However, many other reviews praise the timely delivery service.

Customer Service

Customer service appears to be very active in response to customer reviews. Not unlike other food retailers, some customers on TrustPilot reported problems with their orders. However, a customer service representative often replies to the review with a solution and heartfelt concern.

Additionally, MuscleFood offers a discount for students, key workers, and military personnel. It also provides free access to Fiit workouts with a meal plan subscription, which helps to set itself apart from other food retailers.

MuscleFood Review: What Do Real Users Say?

It’s great to find fast convenient, well priced food that tastes great & fits with my macros.

Great range of flavours & being able to cook from frozen as well as chilled makes them really versatile. I’m very happy with Muscle Food.

Lin

Great way to lose weight!!

I’ve being using Muscle Food for over six months and in that time I’ve managed to lose over 10kg (23 pounds) so far. They do a nice mixture of ready meals and meal kits which are really good value for money (imo) – you can get breakfast / lunch & dinner for 5 days for about 60 quid a week.

Anyway if you’re looking to lose weight give it a try!

The meal portions are perfect and taste really good!, I’ve been trying to get the right portions of nutrition but couldn’t quite master it so decided to give these a try and since sticking to these I’ve noticed a shift in weight, normally when dieting I feel fatigued and get bored of the food but this is not the case with these prepared meals, a lot of variety to pick from and all taste great and fresh.

Leroy Alsbury-Lawrence

Having had several orders from muscle food I have found the produce to be of excellent quality in freshness and taste, the packaging is superb in it’s ability to keep the product at a safe temperature whilst in transit. Overall a very good online buying experience. Plus a great delivery service provided by DPD [UK].

Mr Frederick BRENT

Can honestly say that Muscle food meat is the best I’ve had – tasty, tender and top quality. Excellent chilled packaging and arrives at the specified time indicated by reliable designated courier. I have had several deliveries from Muscle Food and would highly recommend this company.

Carol Byard

“Excellent company! These guys are brilliant. Easy to order online and book your time-slot for delivery. We’ve been regular customers for a number of years now, and they always deliver our Christmas hamper on time. Would not hesitate to recommend their reliable service! Thank-you :-)”

Becks

Best steak I’ve had in years. Order came within days fresh and all complete. Minced beef best quality and steak outstanding forgot how good steak could taste it was if it had come straight from the farm. Meatballs great too. Will not be shopping anywhere else for meat now. Excellent communications and customer service outstanding too.

Final Thoughts: Is MuscleFood Worth Trying?

So, is MuscleFood worth it? The answer will vary among individuals, but it certainly has many benefits to offer its customers. MuscleFood first entered the food delivery scene in 2013, and it has steadily grown into a popular United Kingdom brand. Many people turn to MuscleFood to keep their pantries packed with healthy foods that support their weight management and muscle toning goals.

There are over 100,000 Muscle Food reviews —weight loss focused and others— on TrustPilot. Many praise MuscleFood for its quality, freshness, and flavor.

The MuscleFood meal options can be cheaper than eating at a restaurant and even a bit cheaper than shopping at typical chain supermarkets. First, however, consider ordering a small hamper to do a taste test before buying in bulk. Then, once you find foods that support your goals and you enjoy eating, you can start purchasing large hampers to save on cost.

Of course, this article does not take the place of medical advice. Weight loss should be done under the guidance of a medical doctor or registered dietitian nutritionist.
