About The Brand

Sculpt Nation is a sports nutrition brand born after many V Shred fitness clients voiced frustration with the supplement industry’s lack of safe, effective, and trustworthy products.

Little is mentioned about the founder of Sculpt Nation. However, the co-founder of V Shred, Vince Sant, was involved in the development of Sculpt Nation and is currently listed as the brand’s co-founder.

Sculpt Nation promises to meet the quality, performance, and scientific standards Vince and other parties involved in V Shred demanded from nutrition supplements. The company claims all supplements are created using the best quality ingredients and are formulated based on scientific evidence.

All Sculpt Nation products are described as having undergone rigorous third-party testing to guarantee quality. However, the results of these third-party tests are not readily available on Sculpt Nation’s website.

All supplements sold by Sculpt Nation come with a 100% lifetime money-back guarantee. If you purchase directly from Sculpt Nation’s website, the company recommends taking your supplement as directed for 30 days. After that period, if you are not completely satisfied, you may return it at any time for a 100% refund of your purchase price, minus shipping and handling.

In our Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black reviews, we’ll discuss all you need to know about Turmeric Black to determine if this weight loss supplement is worth your money.

What Is Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black?

Sculpt Nation considers Turmeric Black to be close to a miracle supplement. It is designed to support joint health and muscle recovery and reduce unwanted weight gain by helping you burn fat.

As its name implies, the main ingredient in Turmeric Black is turmeric. Although the company doesn’t outright say it, most of the benefits associated with Sculpt Nation’s Turmeric Black center around turmeric’s ability to fight inflammation via its active ingredient, curcumin.[1] Because of the poor bioavailability of turmeric, the product is combined with BioPerine, a black pepper that improves[2] curcumin’s absorption.

Turmeric Black costs $49 per bottle, which is pricier than many other turmeric supplements. If you buy Sculpt Nation Turmeric in bulk, you can save around $10 per bottle.

Does It Really Work?

At a brief glance, Turmeric Black is a decent choice if you are looking for a good quality turmeric supplement to support your overall well-being. It may also slightly help improve your waistline, but it likely isn’t enough to trigger noticeable weight loss.

This is because Turmeric Black is a somewhat incomplete formula and lacks a blend of natural thermogenic ingredients to boost your metabolism and other ingredients that may help suppress your appetite.

Interestingly, Sculpt Nation does carry a supplement with a blend of fat-burning ingredients called BURN, which the company recommends taking with Turmeric Black for maximum fat loss.

Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black Ingredients

Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black Ingredients
Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black Ingredients List

Each two-capsule serving of Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black provides a proprietary blend of 1 gram of turmeric root powder and root extract. It delivers 100 milligrams of Kaempferia parviflora, also known as black turmeric, and 5 milligrams of black pepper fruit extract to enhance curcuminoid absorption.

If you glance at the Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black Supplement Facts label, you’ll notice that its ingredient list is slim. The formula is primarily made up of turmeric in different forms and associated ingredients for absorption.

Turmeric is used to treat many ailments, including arthritis and digestive issues. It contains the active ingredient curcumin, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Curcumin may also be beneficial for weight loss in adults with obesity.

Black turmeric is a rare turmeric species that may aid in weight loss and athletic performance and enhance sexual desire.

Turmeric, especially its active constituent curcumin, is poorly absorbed by the human body. Sculpt Nation has added black pepper, which can increase your body’s ability to absorb curcumin, allowing you to reap more overall health benefits.

Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients present in Turmeric Black.

Proprietary Blend (1 gram)

Sculpt Nation’s proprietary blend comprises turmeric root extract and turmeric root powder. When we see proprietary blends, it’s usually a red flag.

That’s because proprietary blends allow companies and manufacturers to withhold information about individual ingredient amounts present in a product. It’s a mix without delineating the proportions. This makes it nearly impossible to know what you are ingesting. It also eliminates your ability to pinpoint the effectiveness of specific ingredients.

But does it still matter if it’s all turmeric? Yes, because the two have different concentrations of curcumin,[3] the active ingredient in turmeric.

Turmeric extract has a much higher concentration of curcuminoids than turmeric powder, which means it will provide more health benefits. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know exactly how much turmeric and curcumin are in Turmeric Black.

That said, both turmeric and curcumin have been shown to have health benefits, although the extent of the benefits ultimately depends on your daily dose, whatever that is, in this product.

Turmeric has been used for years in Ayurvedic medicine for its antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. It may also be a promising alternative therapy for individuals who suffer from digestive disorders[4] and offer additional health benefits.

One 2020 review of studies[5] noted that turmeric and its extracts might help manage symptoms of arthritis and type 2 diabetes. The study’s authors noted it might also help treat metabolic syndrome,[6] a condition given to a group of risk factors like abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, and high triglycerides, which can contribute to heart disease, diabetes, and other health concerns.

However, the review noted that research has been inconsistent and further studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Another 2019 review of studies[7] found that curcumin may significantly decrease waist circumference, weight, and body mass index in adults with metabolic syndrome and obesity. Of note, the studies included were of low to moderate quality.

Lastly, one 2020 review of studies[8] found that curcumin may improve depression and anxiety in individuals who suffer from depression. Again, the final disposition is that more extensive studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Kaempferia Parviflora Rhizome Extract (Sirtmax Black Turmeric)

Kaempferia parviflora, also known as black turmeric, is a rare turmeric species that belongs to the ginger family. It has been used in folk medicine for thousands of years to cure various ailments, including inflammation, digestive disorders, and allergies.

One 2018 study[9] carried out over 12 weeks in overweight and obese — two different categories — Japanese individuals found that those who consumed 150 milligrams of Kaempferia parviflora extract daily experienced significant reductions in abdominal fat and triglyceride levels compared to those in the placebo group.

Turmeric Black contains 100 milligrams of black turmeric, slightly less than the amount used in this study.

Though evidence is limited, one 2015 study[10] found the herb may increase total energy expenditure (calories burned) by activating brown adipose tissue, which can burn calories rather than store them.

Kaempferia parviflora may also enhance sexual desire,[11] increase physical performance,[12] and improve your body’s ability to convert food into energy. However, further studies are needed.

Black Pepper Fruit Extract (BioPerine)

The black pepper fruit extract is known for enhancing the absorption of several nutrients and beneficial plant compounds.

Piperine, the primary component of black pepper, has been shown to increase the absorption of curcumin by as much as 2,000%.[13]

Laboratory studies suggest piperine may help fight inflammation,[14] improve blood sugar control,[15] support gut health,[16] and improve cognitive function. Human studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Other Ingredients

Other ingredients in Turmeric Black include:

  • Gelatin.
  • Rice flour.
  • Silicon dioxide.
  • Magnesium stearate.

The capsules are made from gelatin, an animal protein derived from collagen. This makes Turmeric Black off-limits for those who follow a vegan diet.

Turmeric black includes flow agents, including rice flour and magnesium stearate, which help prevent the ingredients in a capsule from sticking to each other and improve the consistency and quality of the capsules.

Silicon dioxide is also used to prevent the powdered ingredients in the capsule from sticking together.

Health Benefits Of Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black

Here are the potential health benefits of Turmeric Black, according to Sculpt Nation:

Supports Weight Loss And Improves Fat Burn

Turmeric Black may decrease fat and body weight, especially in adults with metabolic syndrome and obesity. It contains Sirtmax, or “black turmeric,” which some animal studies suggest may enhance burning fat.

However, Turmeric Black lacks well-studied natural thermogenic like green tea extract, cayenne pepper seeds, or glucomannan to suppress appetite, which many other fat burners contain.

Fights Inflammation

We know that chronically high levels of inflammation[17] in the body are associated with a host of chronic diseases, including:

  • Autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Heart disease.
  • Digestive disorders like inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Lung diseases, such as asthma.
  • Certain types of cancer, including colon cancer.
  • Diabetes.
  • Depression.

Turmeric Black may help reduce body-wide inflammation, reducing the risk of the above conditions and aiding in longevity.

However, due to curcumin’s poor absorption and rapid metabolism, very high doses[18] above what is supplied in Turmeric Black are needed to produce medicinal results. That said, Turmeric Black does contain piperine, which enhances its effectiveness.

Improves Energy Levels

On their website, Sculpt Nation mentions several times that Turmeric Black can help improve energy levels. Currently, only a few studies on turmeric as an energy booster exist.

One randomized control trial[19] in 60 healthy older adults found that curcumin supplements enhanced working memory, mood, contentedness, and general fatigue.

Supports Joint Health

Turmeric Black may help improve joint health by reducing inflammation levels throughout the body. The Arthritis Foundation suggests 500 milligrams of high-quality curcumin twice daily for best results. Since this product contains a proprietary blend, it’s difficult to tell how much turmeric root extract (~95% curcuminoids) is present in Turmeric Black.

Potential Side Effects

Overall, turmeric has a good safety profile and poses little risk to most healthy individuals.

According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health,[20] turmeric supplements containing other ingredients to improve their bioavailability[21] can lead to harmful and desirable effects.

The most commonly reported side effects[22] of turmeric consumption include digestive issues like upset stomach, diarrhea, and nausea, so taking it for inflammatory bowel disease may be harmful.

Turmeric supplements should be avoided while pregnant or breastfeeding due to safety concerns.

Curcumin’s blood thinning effect may lead to excessive bleeding[23] if taken along with blood thinners, such as clopidogrel, warfarin, aspirin, or other anticoagulants.

If you are taking other medications, consult your healthcare provider before taking Turmeric Black.

Dosage

According to Sculpt Nation, users should take two capsules daily with a meal. There are a total of 30 servings or 60 capsules in each container.

There are no official dosage guidelines for turmeric supplements. However, 500 milligrams to 2,000 milligrams of turmeric per day is generally recommended.

Additionally, the recommended daily curcumin dose is up to 3 milligrams per kilogram[24] of body weight. For a 160-pound person, this would be around 218 milligrams of curcumin per day. Again, we have no way of knowing how much curcumin is in or will be absorbed from Turmeric Black.

Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black Reviews: What Do Real Users Say?

Sculpt Nation has an A- rating from the Better Business Bureau and currently has 3.77 out of 5 stars in reviews.

Unfortunately, not many legitimate customer evaluations are published online. Based on what we could find, many users combine Turmeric Black with V Shred workouts and other supplements sold by Sculpt Nation, including BURN. As such, it’s difficult to determine which supplement contributed to some users’ fat loss.

Additionally, there are many negative user reviews for Sculpt Nation related to unresponsive customer service, trouble canceling orders, overcharging, and the fine print of their no-risk, money-back guarantee.

Here’s a look at a few Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black reviews on Trustpilot:

Still have not gotten a hold of ANYONE. I got charged twice somehow for the BURN evolve, Turmeric Black, and Burn PM. I am 100% dissatisfied with my purchase and would like a full refund. These supplements made my stomach so upset and sent me to the bathroom multiple times.

Rebecca

I have severe neuropathy in both my legs and feet. The pain was so bad I could barely walk. Since taking turmeric black, I haven’t had any pain in my legs or feet. Haven’t lost any weight on them but love being pain-free.

Morris

I have read the reviews, and I have not had any bad experiences with this company. I have always received what I paid for. I have never been charged multiple times. I don’t understand these negative reviews. The workouts work for me. I have lost inches. I took the burn and turmeric. The first day I was jittery, but I retook them the next day, and no jitters. Thank you, Vince and V Shred and Sculpt Nation.

Jaimee

Final Thought

Overall, Sculpt Nation Turmeric failed to make us totally convinced that it’s the best supplement on the market for losing weight. While turmeric is a beneficial anti-inflammatory compound that may support digestion, joint health, mood, and slightly aid in weight loss, it’s not our top pick for a fat burner supplement.

If you’re looking for a supplement to help you lose weight, you’re likely better off choosing a supplement that contains natural appetite suppressants and thermogenic ingredients, as well as one that doesn’t include proprietary blends.

That said, if you are looking for a turmeric supplement for general health, Turmeric Black is a decent option, but it is pricier than most and there are issues with exactly how much curcumin you’ll be getting.

How long does it take for Turmeric Black to work?

Results will vary from person to person. Some users may experience improvement within a few days, while others may notice improvement after a few months. Sculpt Nation recommends taking Turmeric Black daily for at least 30 days to see noticeable results.

What are the ingredients in Turmeric Black?

Turmeric Black contains a proprietary blend of turmeric root extract and turmeric root powder, black turmeric, and black pepper to enhance absorption.

When should I take Turmeric Black?

Turmeric Black can be taken at any time of the day, with a meal, or as directed by your healthcare provider.

Can Turmeric Black have negative effects?

The ingredients in turmeric black are generally safe. However, turmeric consumption may cause digestive issues like upset stomach, diarrhea, and nausea; also, its anticoagulative effects mean it should not be mixed with medication taken for blood clots.
